Aviation Technology: Now and Future Forward
Aviation careers involving avionics, drones, pilot certifications and weather meteorology are in-demand fields in the United States and globally. The value of goods transported by air is estimated to be over $6 trillion annually and approximately 35% of global trade by volume. Air transport demand is expected to increase by 4.3% annually through 2044.
Airline and commercial pilot employment are projected to grow 5% from 2023 to 2033. Annually, the Federal Aviation Administration handles 16,405,000 flights; meaning 45,000 flights and 2.9 million passengers per day flying in and out of U.S. airports. In FY23, 10,857,000 U.S. jobs were generated from aviation. Cargo and freight operations are projected to grow significantly through 2033.
Learners explore all facets of the industry from the mechanics of flight to weather forecasting to taking to the air as a pilot in training. By 2033 in Illinois, job openings for flight attendants are expected to rise 28% and by 26% for avionics technicians.
